Blues in the Schools (BITS) is an educational program that created to promote, preserve, and perpetuate the art, culture, and heritage of blues music and to examine the music’s influence on other genres. BITS brings artists, educators musicians and students together so that all may gain a greater appreaciation on the roots of popular American music and the impact that Blues has on current American and world culture.
Funded primarily by local and regional Blues foundations, BITS form an integral foundation of the music programs that are no longer funded by traditional public education in the schools.
